LOOP THE LAKE
Discover (or rediscover) one of our jewels as you run around New Zealand’s best alpine lakeland circuit.
The course is an anticlockwise circuit of Lake Rotoiti commencing from the Lake Rotoiti waterfront. Approximately 25km.
The Alpine Lodge Loop the Lake like the Abel Tasman Coastal Classic and Captain Cook’s Landing events is conducted through a concession contract with the Department of Conservation, and is limited to 400* competitors to minimise impact on the trail.
CAPTAIN COOK'S LANDING
The course is approximately 26km from Camp Bay to Ship Cove along the Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds of New Zealand.
The finish at Ship Cove allows you the chance to breath in the beauty that kept Captain James Cook coming back. He spent over 100 days on five seperate occasions at Ship Cove making it his favourite anchorage in New Zealand.
An enjoyable active day with lunch, prizegiving buffet and boat transport included. All transport is from Picton.
THE DUN RUN
The Rugged but Runnable (approx. 26km): From the Maitai Dam, the route ascends the Dun Mountain Saddle (875m) following the south branch of the Maitai River. Taking the Coppermine Saddle track and downhill along New Zealand’s first railway line, returning to the ORIGINAL FINISH LINE, the OK Corral, Brook Street, Nelson. This is a testing run – but not impossible.
The Long Course option (approx. 39km): Entries now open to the Long Course a challenging adventure taking you from Central Nelson along the Maitai Valley up Smith’s Hill Track( Big Hill) at Smiths Ford and onto the Dun track at the Dam. Following the Original Dun Run you’ll finish at the Old Codgers Park. This course has two big climbs with sweeping views of dramatic landscape of the Dun Mountain ophiolite belt and the glittering Tasman Bay.
ABEL TASMAN COASTAL CLASSIC
Come stride into paradise. 33km Trail Run from Awaroa to Marahau along the renowned Abel Tasman National Park.
Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve Camping Ground is the event base for the Abel Tasman Coastal Classic, where Registration and the Prizegiving Dinner Function will be held.
Boat transport for all runners will be from Kaiteriteri, making for a relaxed start to the day.
There are a number of accommodation options within the Katieriteri Recreation Reserve of Apartments, Cabins and Tent sites plus many more in the local area.
The Kaiteriteri Gold Half Marathon and 14km has developed from the original Riwaka Half Marathon.
The Half Marathon and 14km courses are challenging -they have a couple of good climbs in there, but these can be forgiven when you consider you are running or walking in pure paradise. Plus for every up there is a down!
