Firefighters Stepping Up for Charity

Four Motueka volunteer firefighters, Katie Clark, Tracey Hovenden, Alan Ball and Kylie Silcock are taking on the Sky Tower Challenge in May but to get to the top some seriously hard training has to be undertaken. Fifty-one flights of stairs (1103 steps) stand between our local firefighters and their conquering Auckland’s landmark building.

The quartet will be donning their structural gear and completing the 12km as a special relay team, and along the way raising some funds for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand.

Runners, walkers, supporters and spectators can help these firefighters and make their efforts truly worthwhile by dropping some coins (or notes) in their collection buckets.

Adding to some fun on the day – make sure you guess how long you think it will take the team to complete their event and the closest to their actual time will win a SKY DIVE from our new sponsor Sky Dive Abel Tasman.
