Saturday's 19th Alpine Lodge Loop the Lake couldn't have had a closer finish in the women's race with Cheryl Young notching a four second win from fellow Nelsonian Jodi Dobson. Both stayed together for the 25 kilometre circuit of Lake Rotoiti with Young having the enegy to stay a few paces ahead with the finish line in sight. Her win heralded a first for one wearing Vibram FiveFinger shoes, giving an all but barefoot appreciation of what it was like to run around outside as a child. This will now be at the Lake Rotoiti Community Hall. This is on the Main Road, just before the township (if entering from Nelson).
We look forward to seeing all participants at Lake Rotoiti this Saturday morning.
Some reminders for you:
Please remember to bring your Registration Certificate (this was emailed out on Wednesday but we do have some spares available at the Registration desk on event morning if you don't have access to a printer).
Registration is at the Red Deer Lodge from 7.30am on Saturday morning (opposite the DOC Information Centre).
A reminder that you will need to carry any emergency medication with you at all times (this includes any medication for wasp / bee allergies).

It was all autumn smiles in yesterday’s McFadden McMeeken Phillips Lawyers Nelson Women’s Triathlon with 271 getting their taste of what it’s like to “foot, pedal & paddle” Nelson’s iconic event..
Carol Cooper lead them all home, for the second year and with her upcoming overseas departure it will be a big loss to the local multisport community. Her biggest thrill for the day though was lining up on the Branford Park startline with daughter Georgina alongside , one of the treasured moments in life that this event offers.
Kim Waddell and Hayley Beaton were both in the last lane at Riverside Pool swimming for second with Waddell having the edge.
