THE EVENT - 28th AUGUST 2021
Rugged but runnable – 26kms up into the “ Backwoods of Nelson” and along the sub alpine mineral belt. Sweeping views out to a glittering Tasman Bay await you as you descend New Zealand’s first railway line to the finish.
From the Maitai Dam, the route ascends to the Dun Mountain Saddle (875m) following the south branch of the Maitai River. Taking the Coppermine Saddle track and downhill along New Zealand’s first railway line, through Third House and finishing at the OK Corral, Brook Street, Nelson. This is a testing run – but not impossible.
Start: Maitai Dam in wave starts, based on your honest half marathon estimate. First wave will begin at 8.30am.
Entry Criteria – To enter this event you must be capable of running a half marathon on the road in under 2 hours and 45 minutes or equivalent.

Pre-Event Emailer #1 – 4th April 2021
Please let us know if you have not being receiving our pre-event emailers as these will have important event information in them.
Entry fee is $85
(In 2020 we offered a discounted opening offer of $70 to the first 200 entries)
If you can complete a half marathon in under 2.45 hours then you can enter The Original Dun Run 26km (so if you are a Trailwalker and meet the time criteria then you can enter The Dun Run in 2020. Please note: There is no separate category for walkers)
The minimum age of competitors is 16 years for the Original course.

Please note that all competitors compete at their own risk and the Organising Committee will accept no liability for any mishap or injury, or loss/damage to personal property during the event.

In the event of extreme weather/health/environmental conditions, the Organising Committee reserves the right to substitute an alternative course, postpone or if necessary, cancel the event.

Withdrawals received before the 1st of July will be refunded in full less a $30.00 administration fee.
Withdrawals received before the 15th of July will be refunded $35 of entry fee.
Withdrawals received after this date are not eligible for a refund.
Please note entries cannot be transferred to other competitors, other events or future editions of this event.
ON THE DAY

You will be advised of your wave start closer to the event date.
Waves will begin from 8.30an.
Andrews Farm, Tantrgee Road, Brook Valley.
Check In and Race Pack Collection
Check in, race pack (race number and any pre-ordered merchandise) collection, gear check and briefing will be conducted at the start line for this event.
There will be a designated vehicle for you to leave any gear you want taken through to the finish line (please keep this to a minimum). Just check in with crew as to where to place this.
Course Check in is 40mins before your Wave start at the Maitai Dams.
Prizegiving function – venue and timing to be confirmed.
Performance and spot prizes will be awarded
Numerous spot prizes will be awarded, however, to be eligible winners must be at the prizegiving function.
TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION
The Dun Run starts at the Maitai Dam (about 12km from Nelson City). Transport to the start is available and will leave the OK Corral (finish line area) from 7am and will be confirmed in the pre-event emailers ($15 cost). This must be pre-booked. The finish is at the OK Corral, Brook Street, Nelson.
