Re: Want to win one?

I have been really enjoying the womens activitators am feeling more confident with all the help the girls have given us. I really enjoyed the biking session as I now feel I can race with other racing bikes. Have talked 5 of my workmates to come on the triathlon so its going to be great fun.

I learnt an important lesson in hydration this week! Make sure you increase the amount and frequency you are drinking the day before the event as well as drinking before, during and after on the day of the Triathlon. There are drink stations on the course so make use of them during the event. Good luck everyone, less than 2 weeks to go!!

Very good advice there. Will have to make sure I get the fluid in beforehand too. Thanks for that

Re: Want to win one?

It's been 15 years since I did my first Nelson Women's tri. I haven't been able to do them every year (too far to come for a day), but when I have been living in Nelson or Blenheim I have been here. Because this tri was my first event 15 years ago and for many years it was the only event available for me to enter, I love entering it when I can.
Since my first tri, I have competed in several others around the country, but this is by far the best, it has the shortest walk section (my least favourite part) and the walk is first (get it over and done with early). The bike is my best section but the best part is jumping into the pool at the end when you need a refresher.
Good luck everyone. Have fun and push yourself to do your best.

Re: Want to win one?

Thanks so much! Will wear it at Kaiteriteri Gold on Saturday though Im only the support crew for that event! Have been out tonight for a bike up the Maitai with my friend Kath then swam 10 lengths at the pool. Biked with togs under shorts and tshirt to check for comfort! I guess I should try the run in togs too with clothes on top of course! Great to see lots of girls out there on Saturday, we all smiled secretly knowing we were probably all training for the Triathlon. Only 2 and a bit weeks to go, feeling much fitter this year. Just have to keep in mind that I need to run at my own pace and not be caught up in the initial sprint start, slow and steady! Good luck everyone

Re: Want to win one?

Hi All. Three weeks to go! Feeling excited as well as nervous, it has been a few years and baby number 3 since I last competed! I entered this year because I needed the motivation to get back out there and reclaim by body as well as some time for me! It is definitely been a good move, I am motivated and feeling great for it. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday! See you all really soon.

Re: Want to win one?

I have always had a soft spot for this event. I arrived in Nelson 10 yrs ago, the day before this event. As I was staying with Averil and Graham I was asked to help out on the day. I was then hooked to compete the following year. Now I have done this event 6 of the 10 yrs I have lived here. Couple off due to babies or illness. I am really looking forward to this year. A new time goal and 6 great friends to train and compete with. Bring on April 1st.

Re: Want to win one?

Hi there
Training is going really well for my friends and I for the Taylors Womens Triathlon. We have been going up to the Maitai and doing the biking course, we have all been going swimming and trying to beat out times each time lol. We all play alot of netball aswell so that has helped us alot with the fitness side of things. My son entered the weet-bix TRYathlon today and throughly enjoyed it, he said now he cant wait to cheer us on for our event and neither can I. This will be my fourth Taylors Womens Triathlon and I am just as excited as I was for the first one. Winning a cap would be awesome to train in, fingers crossed.

Re: Want to win one?

Hello training going well for this year's Taylors Women's Triathlon. Have completed 3 events as a walker so going to give the run a go this year! Have been running weekly in 5k event each Monday night and now have started running the Triathlon course with friends. Great course, though wondering how I will feel getting on the bike after the run. Will have to do some combinations of running and biking now to get used to the transition. Swimming inbetween my running days is great for the sore muscles! Have entered workplace challenge too though my work buddies are all blokes I havent told them which one Im buddied up with! Have persuaded a few of my girl friends to enter too so always someone to train with. Would love to win a cap they look great.
