Tussock Spirit of the Moutere

An approximately 60km circuit that captures the essence of the Moutere, taking riders through idyllic rural communities, past anglers challenged by the trout of the Motueka River, along charming valley flats and past a bevy of boutique and cottage industries before returning to enjoy the charming surrounds of Woollaston Estates.

NEW FOR 2012:  SHORT COURSE 29km OPTION

Open to all riders - over 14years.

Come join us for a ride through some of Nelson/Tasmans best rural roads. If you want to mix it with the leaders and echelon your way through the course enter now, if a more lesiurely consistent pace is more your scene then enter also as this event is for all.

The Course
Follow the Moutere (Inland) Highway from Upper Moutere to Edwards Road.

Turn LEFT and follow the Waiwhero Valley before turning LEFT at Ngatimoti and onto the Motueka Valley Highway.

At Woodstock, turn LEFT and go through to Dovedale, turn LEFT onto Neudorf Road.

At Prices Corner turn RIGHT onto the Moutere Highway and head through the Motuere Village, turning LEFT at Old Coach Rd to finish at the top of the hill before gently rollilng down to enjoy the comforts of Woollaston Estates.

A reminder that the road is open to traffic at ALL times, therefore ROAD RULES APPLY AT ALL TIMES.

NEW for 2012:  SHORT COURSE OPTION (29km approx)
Start Moutere Community Centre, down Moutere Highway to Edwards Road, left onto Central/Old House, right onto Moutere Highway through to finish at Old Coach Road.

Registration
8.30am - 9.00am Moutere Hills Community Centre on the Moutere Highway (approx 2km from the Moutere Village)

Parking
Parking is available at the Moutere Hills Community Centre and at Woollaston Estates. We suggest you park at Woollaston Estates and then cycle through to Registration at the Moutere Hills Community Centre. This is just over 7km following back along Old Coach Rd towards Nelson and heading RIGHT onto Moutere Highway.

Briefing
A pre-event compulsory briefing will be held at the Moutere Hills Community Centre at 9.15am

Start
9.30am from Kelling Road (just down from the Moutere Hills Community Centre)

Finish
Old Coach Road and Carlyon Rd intersection - then ride gently down to Woollaston Estates.

Prizegiving
At Woollaston Estates.
Enjoy wine from the cellar, bring a rug, a picnic and the family and enjoy the afternoon together on the lawn at Woollaston Estates.
Please note you must be present at prizegiving to be eligible for spot prizes.

All riders receive a bottle of Tussock Wine (under 18 will receive a non-alcoholic juice).

Safety

Please note that for safety reasons use of ipod, mp3 player, Walkman or similar is not permitted.
A pre-event safety briefing will be conducted at 9.15am at the Moutere Hills Community Centre.
