Further change to revised course for both Half Marathon & 10km

Not long to go now! We are super pumped for Saturday and trust you are too!

On Saturday morning, registration will open at Kaiteriteri inbetween the Kai Café and Beachfront shop at the following times:

7.30am for Half Marathon entrants
8.15am for 10km entrants

You will need to bring a completed Registration Certificate with you to uplift your race number - this has been emailed to you this evening - a pdf link - (if you don't have access to a printer, we will have spares available at the Registration desk).

Your Race Pack will include any merchandise you have pre-ordered.

8.15am Half Marathon Walkers and 3 Hour plus Half Marathon Runners
8.45am Half Marathon Runners
9.15am 10km Runners and Walkers

Briefing will be held 15 minutes prior to the start of each event on the Beach, opposite the Registration area. It is compulsory to attend Briefing.

Due to ongoing issues with slippage along the road to Marahau, we have had to implement a further change to both the Half Marathon and 10km courses for Saturday.

Starting at Kaiteriteri Beach, you will head towards Riwaka and a section of the Great Taste Trail. A turnaround point will be positioned on this trail, and then you will head back to Kaiteriteri on the same route (and the same side of the road).
Upon reaching Kaiteriteri, you will then follow the 10km course (as described below).

Starting at Kaiteriteri you will head towards Marahau, however before descending towards Marahau, instead you will enjoy another vantage point of the Bay by travelling up Tokongawa Drive (Split Apple Rock) to the turnaround point. Then return on the same route, (and on the same side of the road) to the golden sand finish at Kaiteriteri.

Aid Stations
The Half Course will have Five Aid Stations and the 10km Course will have Two Aid Stations

Important Event Rules to follow
The road is OPEN to ALL TRAFFIC at all times. Road rules apply.

No more than two abreast unless passing as this is a narrow road.

You will be on the SEAWARD SIDE of the Road at all times apart from on Tokongawa Drive.
On Tokongawa Drive you will be on the Right hand side of the road going out, and then the Left hand side coming back.

As this is an out and back course you will be encountering participants coming in the other direction. To ensure you cross paths safely, those facing the oncoming traffic will be on the traffic side of the pass, those with traffic on their rear will stick to the road edge.

NO IPODS OR EARPIECES are allowed – this is to ensure you can hear traffic and other participants. Enjoy the scenery, your fellow competitors company and the sound of your puff as you master those climbs.

Saturday is looking great, remember to pack your hat, sunscreen and togs.

Start early on your hydration to ensure you are rearing for the start line.
