Blackball Hilton Croesus Crossing

Fleur Pawsey lines up in next month's Coast2Coast and she will be well
prepared to tackle Elina Ussher and Sophie Hart - especially in the run
section.

In Saturday's Blackball Hilton Croesus Crossing 27km trailrun across the
Paparoa's she ran the second fastest women's time, 3 hours 5 minutes 50
seconds, slashing just under 18 minutes off her 2011 effort and breaking the Womens Under 40 record in the process.

At Ces Clark Hut, 1200 metres above Barrytown and the imposing Tasman Sea
startline nothing separated her, Hokitika's Helen Gillespie and visiting
American Amy Friedman but in the run down to Blackball it was the Cantabrian
taking control. Gillespie and Friedman exited the bush at SmokeHo Carpark
together and onto the road seciton home it was "game on" for second, the
overseas visitor securing silver outlasting the "local"

Steven McKinstry also has "some" Coast2Coast heritage - winning the 2 Day
Individual Title in 2007. He made the trip down from Auckland to get
another taste of the Coast and it was a sweet one as he ran to a solid
2.45.32 victory. Like the women all three placegetters were together at the
top of the range but McKinstry had the strength to become the 11th winner of
the challenging event. Greg Friedman mirrored his wife with the same spot on
the podium with Kelvin Meade (Auckland ) following in his third successive
appearance.

Nelson Events return to the trails on Saturday April 21st with their popular
Alpine Lodge Loop the Lake. The 25km circuit of Lake Rotoiti is an ideal
introduction to trailrunning and open to anyone comfortably being able to
complete a half marathon or its equivalent in 2 hours 45 minutes. The limit
for the event is 300 with entries already closing in on 200 so speed is the
essence to secure a spot on the startline
