Who are the Nelson Striders?
The Striders were formed in 1987 by a group of 'like minded' joggers interested in company when jogging; support with training expertise; and to feel equal regardless of the individuals level of ability. In short……. we were tired of feeling second class because we weren't the youngest or fastest around!
What do we offer?
Four times a week - 2 evenings plus weekends the Striders offer pack runs/walks
of varying times/distances. In addition to this, Striders receive 4 to
5 newsletters each year, having access to training programmes and support,
initiatives to encourage increased or ongoing activity providing many
personal health benefits; a wide variety of events to cater for all needs;
plus many social occasions to ensure families are involved and the well-being
of the members is considered.
Who are we here
for?
Anyone who wants company - regularly or occasionally, is welcome. Age
or level of fitness is not a concern - Striders cater for everyone with
our philosophy of never leaving anyone alone. Those into racing can find
advice, guidance and company for training; those more sedate enjoy the
company (and the gossip sessions!)
What does it cost?
The Striders have no annual subscriptions. Being active is what's important
to us so we don't charge people to enjoy our company.

Street, Nelson.
