Toxic Maungatpau Gold Murderer's Trail Mountainbike

40km Trail - Pelorus Bridge to Nelson over the infamous Maungatapu - the Sacred Mountain

The Event
From the picturesque and tranquil Pelorus Bridge Reserve riders follow a gravel road approximately 12km to the foot of the Maungatapu. An 8km climb to the saddle at 740m passes 'Murderers Rock' - from here there's an 8km descent into the Maitai Valley, known to be technical, where many an experienced rider has misjudged sections and 'bit the dust'.
Around 12km (a mix of gravel and seal) takes riders to the finish at Sunday Hole, Maitai Valley

Transport
Transport will be available for bike and rider from the Branford Park finish area to the start at Pelorus - $20 pp

8.30am - 9.15am

Equipment
Riders are required to carry the following:
Spare Tubes
Puncture Repair Kit
Pump
Adequate food and clothing including parka or polypropylene top
Helmets are compulsory

Entry

Entry Fee $40 (Under 16 $25).
No race day entries accepted.
Please note riders must be a minimum of 14 years of age to compete.

All riders will receive a bottle of Maungatapu Gold Murderers Lager when they finish the event (under 18 will receive a Zinga) and a 'Gold' Nugget.
Entry also includes a Burgess Burger at The Verdict post event.

Prizegiving
2.30pm at The Verdict (dependent on all competitors being safely off the course). The Verdict is on Bridge St, opposite The Court House.


Luncheon
Entry includes a Burgess Burger at The Verdict post event

Safety
Please note that for safety reasons use of ipod, mp3 player, Walkman or similar is not permitted.
The team from Morley Motorcycle and Marine will be there on the day to roam the trails and check on your safety.
